Latest From Ausiello: “Metropolis”, “Lex” & “Perry White”
Posted by Nessa • No Comments »

I should mention that I posted a TV Guide article a few days ago with similar info for Lex Luthor (Michael Rosenbaum) and Perry White (Michael McKean):

Question: Any chance that Smallville will segue into a new series called Metropolis? —WAM
Ausiello:
If there was, executive producer Kelly Souders would know about it. And it sounds like she doesn’t. “There’s nothing official that I know of, but who knows? It’s hard to say goodbye to this franchise. It’s the show that keeps on going.” Hmm… I think the key word there is “official.”

Question: Any chance we will see Michael Rosenbaum return as Lex on Smallville? —Stacie
Ausiello:
Rosenbaum recently met with the Smallville writers, but, sadly, it was just to shoot the breeze. “He came by the writers office a couple weeks ago,” says Souders. “We all love him. The crew and the cast love him. We would love to have him back. We’re constantly talking to him trying to figure out if there’s a way. And believe me, we will keep fighting that fight until the final episode. And I know he’d love to come back, too.” Wait, if he wants to come back, and the show wants him back, what’s the hold-up? “He’s doing other projects, so the timing of things is always a little tricky,” says Souders. “Things have to get planned way in advance. And if he’s locked into something, even if at the end of the day the schedule works out, you often don’t know until you’re already shooting. But I’m believing that the Smallville stars will align at some point. Whether it’s this season or [a possible 10th season], my gut wants him back so desperately that I’m going to believe it’s going to happen. I can’t think of a better way to [end the series] then by bringing him back.”

Question: When can we expect to see the return of Perry White on Smallville? —Dee
Ausiello:
“We have a story that we would love to tell with Perry,” says Souders. “But [Michael McKean] is in a Broadway show right now. So he’s not exactly available at the moment.”

Latest From TV Guide: Superman, Justice Society & Clois
Posted by Nessa • No Comments »

Q: Is Clark Kent finally going to become Superman this season? —Lauren, Palm Beach, Fla.
A: Sounds like we’re close! Smallville exec producer Brian Peterson tells me that the black blur suit Clark has been wearing this season was designed to be only a temporary bridge to the long-overdue Superman unveiling they are now plotting. “Given the Clark Kent everyone knows from our show, it would come out of nowhere to have him automatically start wearing the [Superman] suit,” Peterson says.

But once Clark comes to embrace his human side this season (with a little guidance from costumed Justice Society guest heroes Hawkman, Dr. Fate and Stargirl in a January episode), Peterson says Clark can start wearing his classic red-and-blue. The season may even conclude with Clark building a new costume with a bit more color, much as Tobey Maguire’s Peter Parker did in the first “Spider-Man.”

We can also look forward to Lois Lane and Clark hooking up, just like Lois dreamed at the start of this season. Peterson vows, “What we teased in the premiere, we have all intentions of paying off for the fans this season.”

Latest From Matt Mitovich: Justice Society & Hawkman
Posted by Nessa • No Comments »

After reading the Huffington Post piece where Michael Shanks talks about ‘Smallville’s’ Justice Society episode, I could not be more excited. What are you hearing about it? – Rachael
One of my buds got a gander at Geoff Johns’ script for the super-powered two-parter and in a word, he says, it is “amazing.” And speaking of Shanks, the buzz is that Hawkman could be the most entertaining DC Comics import in ‘Smallville’ history. Is it January yet?

Cassidy Freeman in “YellowBrickRoad”
Posted by Nessa • 2 Comments »

Just caught the trailer for “YellowBrickRoad”, starring Cassidy Freeman, and real-life brother, Clark Freeman.

Synopsis:

One Morning in New England, 1940, the entire population of Friar New Hampshire – 572 people – walked together up a winding mountain trail and into the wilderness. They left behind their clothes, their money, all of their essentials. Even their dogs were abandoned, tied to posts and left to starve. No One knows why. A search party dispatched by the U.S. Army eventually discovered the remains of nearly 300 of Friar’s evacuees. Many had frozen to death. Others were cruelly and mysteriously slaughtered. The bodies of the remaining citizens are still unaccounted for. Over the years, a quiet cover-up operation managed to weave the story of Friar into the stuff of legends and backwoods fairy tales. The town has slowly repopulated, but the vast wilderness is mostly untracked, with the northern-most stretches off limits to local hunters and loggers. In 2008, the coordinates for the “YELLOWBRICKROAD” trail head were declassified. The first official expedition into a dark and twisted wilderness will attempt to solve the mystery of the lost citizens of Friar…and reach the end of the trail.

YellowBrickRoad is currently in post production, but the official trailer for the horror movie was released on Monday, November 2. Thanks to “JesseBHolland” for the video clip. Check it out below:
